Our Story
Creek Aquatics was born from a childhood obsession with a small freshwater tank tucked beneath the rolling green hills of the Willamette Valley. Founded in 2009 by Sam and Rosie Gamgee, what began as a weekend hobby selling locally-bred fish at the Rivendell Farmers Market has grown into one of the region’s most trusted aquatic specialty shops.
What We Believe
We believe that a well-kept aquarium isn’t just decoration — it’s a living world unto itself, deep and full of wonders, not unlike the pools of Mithrandir or the shimmering rivers of Lothlórien. Every fish, coral, and invertebrate we carry is sourced from responsible breeders and sustainable collectors who share our values. We don’t just hand you a creature and send you off on your journey. We make sure you leave with the knowledge, equipment, and courage for the road ahead.
Our Team
Our staff are hobbyists first — a fellowship, really. Between them, they maintain dozens of personal tanks spanning nano planted setups, African cichlid biotopes, and full reef systems. Our senior aquarist, Gandalf “Gary” Greyhame, has been keeping fish for longer than most of our customers have been alive and has a particular fondness for ancient, slow-moving species. When you ask a question at Creek Aquatics, you’re getting a straight answer from someone who has actually walked that path — not a riddle at a doorstep.
